Description:

Made in 1863, the '62 Police is regarded by many as one of the most streamlined production arms to leave the Colt factory during the Percussion Era. Pin front sight on barrel with one-line block letter New York address and casehardened ratchet loading lever. The cylinder is stamped "PAT. SEPT. 10th 1850" inside one of the flutes, the frame is stamped "COLTS/ PATENT" on the left side, the trigger guard is marked "36 CAL" on the left shoulder and "8" on the left side of the guard itself. The grip straps are silver finished brass and the grips are smooth one-piece walnut. All matching numbers, with "L" stamped next to the serial numbers on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap, a marking seen on steel strapped British proofed London revolvers.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with approximately 80% of the bright original blue finish. The barrel has a few areas of mottled brown with patches of satin gray on the underside of the lug and at the muzzle. The cylinder has a mix of original blue with mottled brown and a smooth gray patina, with most of the cylinder pins intact. The frame retains approximately 75% of the original casehardening colors. The trigger guard has almost all of its original silver finish, and the back strap has silver at the top with a fine aged patina on the exposed brass. The grips are very good, with some dings, scratches, varnish loss and wear around the butt. The action is excellent.
