Description:

Manufactured circa 1876-1877, many Schofield revolvers were sold as military surplus to firms like Bannerman and Schuler, Hartley & Graham, where they were typically altered to meet civilian tastes, usually with the barrel shortened and a nickel finish applied; neither of those alterations are present here. Fixed blade front sight and notch rear sight, with the grooved rib, two-line Smith & Wesson address and patent dates on the left side of the barrel and the Schofield patent markings on the reverse. Matching numbers are present on the rear of the cylinder, with "E" and "I" inspection marks on the top of the frame, smooth grips with faint cartouches and "US" on the butt.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus, with 25% of the original blue finish, showing a mixed brown and gray patina overall, bright edge wear and scattered handling marks and spotting. Traces of the original casehardened pattern are present on the hammer and trigger guard. Grips are very good with no visible cartouche, a few dings and scuffs. Mechanically fine.
