Manufactured between 1870 and 1890 with approximately 6,500 produced. This was the first single shot pistol produced by Colt after they purchased the patent rights from National Arms Co. German silver half-moon front sight and hammer notch rear sight. Features a full nickel finish. The top of the matching serialized barrel is marked "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. Co./HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." followed by " No1" flanked by Maltese crosses. The serial number is marked on the butt and marked to match on the bottom of the barrel. The frame has light scroll engraving with a checkered spur trigger and hammer. The grip area is iron with shallow checkering on the sides and deep sharp checkering on the back strap.

Excellent as replated with 85% period, possibly retailer applied, nickel finish. Displays some areas of flaking on the frame and smooth gray patina primarily on the balance of grip and at the butt. With a small amount of spotting on the hammer. The engraving is crisp. Mechanically excellent.
