Manufactured in 1886. The top of the barrel is marked "COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A/PATENTED MAY 29. SEPT. 18. 1883 MAY 26. 85. JUNE 15. 86.FEB. 22. 87." ahead of the rear sight and "44 Cal." on the left side at the breech. Ahead of the caliber marking is the "crown/V", "crown/GP" and London provisional proofmarks, as well as what appears to be an upside-down "110". The "Rampant Colt" is on the left side of the receiver and there is a "crown/V" proof mark on the upper left front of the receiver and the serial number is on the lower tang. Standard carbine blade front and folding ladder rear sights. Saddle ring and staple on the left side of the receiver. Mounted with a checkered walnut forearm and smooth straight grip stock with an iron carbine buttplate. The accompanying factory letter verifies the 44 CLMR caliber, 20 inch barrel, blue finish, wood stock and that it was shipped as 1 of 10 to Colt's London Agency, London, England c/o Fred Schoeder on March 8, 1886.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The carbine retains 60% original thinning blue with scattered light spotting, high edge wear and areas of brown patina. The wood is also fine with a few minor chips on the stock toe, overall a few minor dings and handling marks, and crisp checkering. The markings are clear. Mechanically fine.
