Description:

Manufactured in 1892. Standard two line Hartford barrel address on top of the barrel, "COLT. D.A. 38" stamped on the left side and the three-line/three-patent dates on the left side of the frame followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. The loading gate is marked with the assembly number "12". Blade front and frame notch rear sights, nickel finish with niter blue hammer (polished sides), screw heads and trigger. Fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, nickel finish, grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 of 10 to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Company in Chicago, Illinois on September 15, 1892. Comes with the original maroon hinged lid box numbered to the gun, with correct exterior and interior labels. A purple "8538" is stamped on the end label and outside of the lid (significance unknown). In the box is a cleaning rod and bore brush.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 90% plus original nickel finish with some scattered minor flaking, mainly on the front face of cylinder, muzzle and ejector housing. 85% of the bright original niter blue finish remains on the small parts. The grips are also excellent with light handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine. The box is very good with two separated corners on the lid, some flaking on the labels, and some stains on the interior.
