Description:

The included factory letter indicates that this revolver was part of a shipment of fifty revolvers of the same configuration shipped to Continental Tobacco in New York, New York, on May 29, 1902. It has the standard two line Hartford barrel address on the top of the barrel and "COLT. D.A. 38" on the left side. The three line, three patent dates are marked on the left side of the frame followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard, and back strap. The loading gate is marked with the assembly number "488". It has half moon blade front and frame notch rear sights, a bullseye ejector, and checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt emblem. The consignor notes suggest that these revolvers were awarded as prizes by Continental Tobacco.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 75% of the original blue finish with some bright wear near the muzzle and on the ejector housing and a brown patina on the grip straps. 70% of the original case colors remain on the frame with the colors faded on the high areas. 60% of the niter blue remains on the hammer and trigger, with the finish worn on most of the screws. The grips are very good with mostly crisp checkering and some smoothing on the high edges. Mechanically excellent with crisp markings.
