This is a very fine example of a Bisley Flattop Target revolver manufactured in 1908 chambered in the scarce 38-40 WCF cartridge. These revolvers were designed as the premium Colt target revolver of the day with a redesigned frame that provided a better grip angle for competitive target shooting. The top of the barrel is marked with the one-line Colt address and "(Bisley Model) 38 W.C.F." Few Bisleys were chambered for 38-40 as it was not one of the preferred target cartridges of the period (estimated 98 in this caliber out of 976 total Flattop Bisleys). The left side of the frame is roll-stamped with the two-line/three-date patent marking followed by the encircled Rampant Colt. The frame, trigger guard, back strap and right grip are all marked with the matching serial number and the cylinder is unnumbered which is correct for this period of revolver. The loading gate is stamped with the assembly number "1036". The revolver is fitted with a smooth trigger, a pinned square blade front sight, v-notched target rear sight adjustable for windage and the distinctive Bisley hammer. It was finished with a Colt high polish blue and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt trademark in an oval at the top.

Good. The revolver has some traces of the original blue finish with otherwise bright cleaned surfaces with light scratches overall and patches of minor oxidation/pitting. The grips are also good with slightly smoothed checkering and slight scratches. Mechanically fine with clear markings.
