Custom built by Dayton, OH gunsmith John Oberlies. With a globe and spirit level front and a tang mounted adjustable rear aperture sight. Heavy octagon barrel with fancy multi-point checkered Schnabel tip forearm with ebony tip insert and pistol grip stock with cheek rest and a matching ebony insert in the grip face. The barrel and receiver are deep polished blue finish with a casehardened trigger, jeweled breach block and lever. The rear sight dovetail on the barrel has a flush filler block installed. The barrel is drilled and tapped in three places with filler screws in the most forward area, and the rear two spaces fitted with sight blocks and a fixed front and micrometer adjustable rear scope rings. The rings are marked with the following patent dates "PAT NOV. 5. 07/JUNE 7. 1910" on the front ring and "PAT NOV. 5. 07" on the rear ring. Mounted with a Winchester A5 scope. Buttstock is fitted with a textured metal buttplate marked "John Oberlies/Dayton, O" in two lines. Includes a red leather sling.

Very fine as custom built and refinished. The barrel and receiver have 99% of the custom blue finish with a small area of thinning on the rear aperture sight base. The block and lever are brightly polished with a small amount of discoloration on the rear of the block. Scope is very fine with a small patch of minor spotting and some small marks from the rings. Stock is very fine with crisp checkering, scattered small handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
