Description:

These three muzzle loaders were made by Dennis Mulford of Utah. Mulford began producing Kentucky and Pennsylvania rifles when he was in college and eventually took to producing them full time from his personal shop. Each of his arms were handmade to the customer's desire and often took over two hundred hours to complete. Accompanied by The Complete Black Powder Handbook by Sam Fadala, where the front cover displays another of Mulford's arms and has a chapter dedicated to a Mulford build with pictures of the process. Also includes an expertly carved antler that now portrays a bald eagle head and appears to be designed to serve as a power measure. It is all set in a custom cedar case with padded velvet interior. The fowler/shotgun has a 12 gauge octagon barrel equipped with a round blade front sight. The top of the barrel is marked in script "D. Mulford", and the lock plate, hammer, and buttplate tang feature light floral scroll engraving. The figured full length stock has detailed floral scroll carving complimented by silver wire inlay near the ramrod entry pipe and at the breech. Aside from the brown finished barrel, all parts are bright. It has a hexagonal bolster and a pan around the nipple and comes with a wooden ramrod with brass tips.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 98% of the original brown finish with some light edge wear and a few light scratches. The remaining bright finished components remain bright with a small amount of spotting particularly on the trigger guard. The interior of the pan around the nipple has a slightly golden hue. The wood is excellent with only handling/storage type marks. The action is excellent. Overall this is a very attractive contemporary percussion long arm.
