Active about the turn of the 20th century, Gus Havich was an Indianapolis sporting goods dealer who sold both American-made shotguns and Belgian items. Fitted with two white bead sights, the barrel rib is lightly textured and engraved, with a vine pattern at the rear and a mixed vine and scroll design on the sides of the chamber. Choke is improved cylinder, with a 2 3/4 inch chamber and an automatic ejector The frame and trigger guard are engraved to match the chamber, with the underside of the frame marked "GUS HABICHT/MAKER/INDIANAPOLIS, IND./R.C.WOLF/INVENTOR". The R.C. Wolf is in reference to Ross C. Wolfersperger of Moran & Wolfersperger, who had patented an automatic ejector. Checkered fancy walnut pistol grip stock with a semi-beavertail forearm, horn grip cap with floral pattern screw, gold washed inscription panel initialed "WJM" and a Pachmayr vented recoil pad. Length of pull is 13 3/4 inches to end of pad, 13 inches to end of wood.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel shows the beginnings of a brown patina, with 80% of the original finish, some light spotting, bright edge wear and scattered handling marks. The frame is fine, showing a mixed brown patina and traces of what appears to be a gold wash in the protected areas of the trigger guard and within some of the engraving. The stock is very good, with light pressure dents and attractive grain. Mechanically Excellent. We have never seen another one of these!
