This is an ultra rare, all original, DWM Model 1906 "Russian" contract Luger pistol. This is absolutely the rarest and most highly sought after contract Luger pistol and probably the rarest of all Lugers ever produced by DWM in general. These are so rare for two reasons; the first being that the total production run was very small, estimated at approximately 1000, and second they all remained in Russia with only a handful of original examples having ever been discovered outside of Russia. There rare lugers were commissioned/manufactured for the Czar of Russia and they have been identified as being produced in two groups. The first group termed the "Old Model" Russian Lugers had serial numbers generally found in the 12,000 serial number range, with the second group, termed "New Model" Russian Lugers, found with three digit serial numbers, generally in the "1 to 900" serial number range. These are easily identified as they are roll marked with the distinctive crossed "Mosin-Nagant rifles" over the chamber area, with the standard "DWM" logo on the front toggle. The only other markings on these rare Lugers are the Cyrillic (actually Bulgarian) markings over the safety area of the frame. It is theorized that theses frames were actually manufactured directly after the Bulgarian contract and hence the DWM factory used the same stamping fixture for the Russian contract lugers. The left side of the extractor is correctly marked in Russian Cyrillic for loaded. They are correctly numbered in the commercial manner with the full serial number, (567) on the underside of the barrel and front of the frame, with the last two digits (67) stamped on the various other parts. They actually have very few proof or acceptance marks except for a small "flaming bomb" proof found inside the frame cutout area along with a small "barrel/shield" mark on the lower left side of the barrel, (versus directly over the barrel serial number). They have the standard DWM features such as the 1906 grip safety and no stock lug. These pistols have no acceptance or firing proofs and are marked with the full serial number (567) on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel, with the last two digits (67) on the various small parts (in the commercial style) to include the back side of each grip panel. This beautiful luger is fitted with excellent dark walnut grips, that are both marked on the backsides with "67" over a "V" proof. This beautiful Luger is complete with an original nickel plated, wood base commercial magazine. The bottom of the wood base is correctly marked in script, "Cal 9m/m".

Excellent plus with 99% of the original blue finish overall with 95% of the original straw colors on the various smaller parts. The grips are also in excellent plus condition with excellent, distinct and sharp checkering on both sides. The mechanics are crisp. This exceptional Luger has all matching numbers, except the magazine as noted above. This is an extraordinary example of an extremely rare, super high conditioned Russian Contract DWM Model 1906 Luger pistol. This is the finest known DWM 1906 Russian Luger!
