Description:

Manufactured in 1942, this Government Model is less than 200 numbers away from the final commercial production 45 Automatic made during the Second World War. The production lines and staff were needed for building military contract 1911A1 pistols and the Government Model would not make a return until 1946. Blade front and flat top rear sights with the two-line address and patent block on the left side of the slide, the caliber and Rampant Colt on the right and a matching serial number beneath the slide stop. The frame is marked with a "T/VP" and "99" on the trigger guard with a short trigger, thin safety, arched serrated mainspring housing and checkered hardwood grips. A Swartz firing pin safety is installed in the slide and frame.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. With one exception, this pistol would rate excellent with over 90% of the original high polish blue finish showing some minor handling marks, a small amount of spotting and minor edge wear. The exception is the top of the slide between the muzzle and ejector housing where significant scattered surface-level erosion and rust has occurred. The grips are excellent with a few tiny dents. Mechanically excellent.
