Description:

This is a late production Type II National Match rifle that was built in 1963 using a late production Springfield Armory M1 rifle. These late type II or type III as some call them were manufactured 1961-1964 and were the final configuration of the M1 NM rifle series before being surpassed by the M14 NM rifles. This rifle has the standard Springfield Armory receiver markings with the right side of the barrel marked: "SA 7791035 3-63 Y 15" with the DOD inspection proof a capital "T" and "PM". The barrel is also correctly marked "NM" on the left front side behind the front sight. It has the late post war parts set with a NM marked operation rod and the late gas cylinder, lock and plug. It is fitted with the correct style NM marked front and rear sights as follows: "NM/062" front sight and a "BME" marked "NM" rear sight with the NM/.595 hooded rear aperture sight. Fitted with a post war Springfield bolt, complete trigger group and a NM marked operating rod. The hand guard has been unitized and the rifle has been glass bedded so the trigger housing and stock have been hand numbered with white paint to match the receiver. It has the original walnut pistol grip stock with a Defense cartouche on the left, "P" in a circle on the right, and a checkered steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus with 99% plus of the original parkerized finish overall with edge and high spot wear and some light wear on the right receiver rail from cycling the rifle. The stock and hand guard are both in excellent plus condition with only minor handling marks/pressure dents and light scratches on the left side of the stock. The cartouches are clear and distinct. Mechanically excellent.
