Description:

This lot features items that belonged to a Second Lieutenant Royal R. Moss. Lieutenant Moss was an army aviator during the First World War and served at Kelly Air Field in San Antonio, Texas, as part of the Headquarters 1st Training Brigade and later the 633rd Aero Squadron. The lot features a orange banner that has U.S. Army Signal Corps insignias in each corner, a U.S. "E PLURIBUS UNUM" federal eagle over an early biplane and is marked "ARMY AIR SERVICE/eagle/plane/KELLYFIELD/So SAN ANTONIO TEX 1917". Included is a scrapbook of Lieutenant Moss's time in the service. The scrapbook has the Roundel of the Air Service on the front cover. The book is filled with postcards, telegrams, enlistment papers, commission papers, personal and professional letters, photographs, stamps, advertisements, and newspapers clippings.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The banner has some darkened area mainly in the center, clear lettering and only a few minor holes. The scrapbook is showing signs of aging with some minor bent corners. The books pages and newspaper clippings are showing discoloration from age. The photographs and other advertisements are clear.
