Originally manufactured in 1941 this series of Colt 1911A1 pistols as originally manufactured/inspected by the US Ordnance inspector Robert Sears, were among the last to use the Colt blue finish as opposed to the wartime standard parkerized finish. This pistol retains most if it original finish however it was reinspected after WWII at Rock Island Arsenal, and has been restamped with: "FK/RIA" along with the arsenal flaming bomb proof on the right side of the frame. The slide and frame have also been altered by peening and tightening the frame rails for target shooting, and the slide has been fitted with a set of late post war target sights, adjustable rear and high wide blade target front sight. It has the original two-line, two-block Colt factory markings on the left side of the slide with the Colt Rampant horse logo in the middle. The top of the slide has the single "P" proof that is also found on the left side of the frame. The left side of the frame has the single boxed "R.S." inspector mark as noted above, and the top of the frame has a partial "RS" proof (partially removed during accurizing). It has the standard WWII components such as a blued barrel marked "COLT 45 AUTO" on the lower right side with a repolished chamber area, checkered slide stop and mainspring housing, with the short milled trigger and checkered wide hammer. It is fitted with a set of standard checkered walnut grips and comes with a commercial Colt marked all blued magazine.

Fine condition as arsenal (RIA) altered/customized for target shooting with 80% of the blue finish overall with light general wear, thinning and blue loss on the front grip strap, and the main spring housing. The top of the frame rails and the underside of the slide has all been polished during accurizing. The walnut grips are in very fine condition with distinct checkering on both sides with minor handling marks.
