Description:

Manufactured near the end of Model 1885 production circa 1920, this "third model" Winder musket in 22 short has a musket style perch belly forearm with finger grooves, single barrel band, forend cap, and low wall frame. It is equipped with a blade front sight, no provisions for a rear barrel sight, and a receiver mounted Lyman peep sight. The barrel is marked on the left with the two-line address and patent information just behind the barrel band and with "22 SHORT" at the breech. The "US/ ordnance bomb" markings are found on the upper tang which is also marked with the three-line trade mark information. The serial number is marked on the lower tang.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. 75% of the original blue finish remains with patches of brown patina/oxidation and some slight scratches scattered throughout. The wood is also very fine with a few strike marks, minor scrapes, and a few dings. Mechanically excellent with clear markings.
