Produced by Fabrique Nationale and imported by FN-USA. Introduced in 2004 in response to a request by the U.S. Army for new modular rifle system to replace the aging M16 rifles. The rifle proved to be very successful and won the competition, however the US Army chose to retain the old M16/M4 platform. The SCAR-16S features a one-piece, anodized aluminum, upper receiver with a full length Mil-Std 1913 Picatinny rail on top with three removable rails on the front end. It has a hard polymer plastic lower receiver and adjustable buttstock. It has a special folding front sight with a detachable, folding rear sight. The rifle uses a short stroke, tappet type of gas system similar to the M1 Carbine with the bolt carrier similar to the H&K G36. The side of the receiver "FNH USA" and FN HERSTAL BELGIUM/SCAR 16S cal. 5.56mm X 45. It has ambidextrous safeties and magazine release, a side folding, four position telescoping buttstock with the comb being adjustable for height. It has the desirable FDE colored anodized receiver and FDE colored plastic components. It comes with one 30 round magazine.

Excellent with 99% of the original factory finish overall. The plastic components are also in excellent like new condition.
