This revolver has some of the features commonly seen on the "Velo-Dog" revolvers for defense against dogs such as a shrouded hammer, small caliber, and folding trigger. It has several small Belgian proofs, "WSF/&" on the left side of the frame, "9" on the front lower right of the frame, "JO" on the left side of the grip straps and "WS&F" on the right side, a round blade front sight, checkered hard rubber grips, and a less common twelve shot cylinder.

Fine. The revolver retains just under half of the original blue finish with a mottled gray patina on the balance, various scratches, and some areas of light pitting. The grips are very good. With crisp checkering and some minor scrapes. Mechanically fine with legible markings.

This style of revolver was originally designed by French gunsmith Charles-Francois Galand for defensive use against dogs by cyclists. This attractive example has detailed floral scroll engraving on the frame and five shot cylinder. Like all "Velo-Dog" revolvers, it has a shrouded hammer to prevent snagging. It also has the commonly seen folding trigger that allows for easier pocket carrying. It is fitted with a fine set of Mother of Pearl grips, a safety switch, and uses a small round blade front sight and a slight notch in the frame for a rear sight. There are small Belgian proofs throughout, "SMA 350394" on the front strap, and a small "8" on many of the components. The left side of the grip straps has a small overstamped mark.

Very fine. 90% of the original nickel plating remain. Exposed brass is visible on many of the small parts, and the safety switch has a brown patina. There are some light scratches overall, some tooling type marks on the cylinder pin, and some spotting on the exposed surfaces. The grips are very good with smooth surfaces and only a small chip on top of the right panel.
