This Webley revolver has "STANDARD BANK" etched on the right side of the frame. Standard Bank of South Africa was a British overseas bank beginning in the 1860s and operated many branches including some at the gold fields. A few of these rare "STANDARD BANK" marked revolver's have been seen with nearly identical markings in various locations. This example is also marked with standard British proofs, the P. Webley & Son address on the top strap, and ".38" over "WEBLEY'S/Nº 5/360 CF" over the winged bullet trademark which is followed by the serial number. The partial serial number is marked on the cylinder along with the caliber "360". There are small "6" and "8" marks on many components. It has a round blade front and frame groove rear sights and is fitted with a lanyard ring and a replacement checkered walnut grip.

Very fine. The revolver retains 90% of the nickel plating with a some edge wear, faint scratches, and small amount of spotting. A gray patina is displayed on the balance. The lanyard loop has a brown patina. The grip is very good with crisp checkering and minor scrapes. The grip and grip screws do not quite fit flush. Mechanically fine with mostly clear markings.

This is a fine example of the iconic British Bulldog revolver. It has "ARMY & NAVY C.S.L." on the top of the barrel, "THE BRITISH/BULL DOG" on the top strap, Birmingham proofs throughout, and "WEBLEY'S/Nº2/450 CF" over the winged bullet trade mark (appears "W&C" instead of the common "W&S") and the serial number which is also marked on the back of the cylinder (partial). "7" is marked on many of the components. It is equipped with a blade front and frame groove sights along with checkered walnut grips and has a blue finish with nickel plated small parts.

Fine. Just over half of the original blue finish remains, while 98% plus of the nickel plating remains on the small parts. There are some light scratches throughout and some brighter edge wear. The exposed surfaces have a gray to brown patina. The grips are very good with crisp checkering and some minor scrapes and dings. Mechanically fine with legible markings. The primary markings all have been white filled.
