Description:

Manufactured in 1853. The revolver has the round brass trigger guard and rectangular cylinder stops found on Third Model Dragoons. The top flat of the barrel is marked "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW*YORK CITY", the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT/U.S.", and a series of single letter proofs on a number of parts. The cylinder is roll engraved with the Federals and Indian battle scene. Matching numbers are present. The complete matching serial number is stamped on the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard, cylinder, back strap, wedge and arbor pin. Standard brass blade front sight and hammer notch rear sight and fitted with smooth one-piece walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Good. The steel components show an artificial mixed brown and gray patina, with scattered dings and extensive mild pitting. A small repair has been made to the lower rear corner of the barrel lug, mild scratches are present around the screws, and the Indian scene and serial number on the cylinder appear to have been partially recut/restamped. Loading lever is unnumbered. A fine mixed aged patina is present on the brass. Grips are good as repaired, with a mended chip on the left toe and mild dents and scuffs overall. Mechanically good.
