Description:

This revolver was manufactured in 1857 and has a short 2 3/4 inch barrel that only extends under half of an inch from the barrel lug. (The Mormans performed similar alterations commonly referred to as "AVENGING ANGELS".) The top of the barrel is marked "SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY-" and is equipped with a brass cone front sight. The barrel lug has the loading channel at the bottom, but it has not been tapped for a loading lever screw. It has the correct Third Model round trigger guard, "COLTS/PATENT/US" on the left side of the frame, the naval battle cylinder scene, and the matching serial number on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, cylinder, and butt. The wedge is numbered "0123." Most of the components have single letter inspection marks. It has the standard one piece walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Good as period modified. There are traces of the original blue finish and case colors with primarily a brown patina. The grip straps and trigger guard have an aged patina. The period revarnished grip is very good with some minor wear including a series of dings on the lower edges. Mechanically excellent.
