Description:

Manufactured in 1884. The top of the stretched barrel is marked with the one-line address (partially obscured) and the underside is marked "P/D.F.C." directly ahead of the cylinder pin and the partial serial number "1401" under the ejector housing. The left side of the frame is marked with the three-line patent dates followed by "U.S.". The loading gate is marked with the assembly number "1704". The cylinder is marked with the letter "P" and "D.F.C.". "D.F.C." is also marked on the bottom of the frame over the serial number, and there is a small "G" under the serial number on the trigger guard and back strap. The full matching serial number is marked on the frame, trigger guard and on the back strap and the partial number "1704" is on the cylinder. Blade front and frame notch rear sights and fitted with a smooth one-piece walnut grip with a faint cartouche on each side.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The metal has a dark patina with scattered minor-moderate scaling rust oxidation (mainly on the barrel) and some minor pitting. The grip is good with wear on the lower edges, chips on each toe and along the lower edge and scattered dings. The action is frozen at half cock. Unless noted above, the markings are legible. Looks like it just came out of the attic!
