Manufactured in 1958. This is an example of a Model 62A Gallery Rifle chambered for .22 Short only, with a triangular feed cut in the magazine tube. It has dovetail front and elevation adjustable rear sights. The left side of the receiver is factory roll engraved "WINCHESTER". The left side of the barrel has the Winchester legend with "22 SHORT". The letter "A" appears behind the Model number, this occurred around serial number 98,000 and was due to a change in the breech bolt mechanism resulting in a name change from Model 62 to Model 62A. Grooved forearm and smooth straight grip stock with a plastic Winchester buttplate.

Fine with 50% faded original blue finish. Displays some minor handling marks and much thinning on working surfaces, specifically the slide rail, magazine tube, and small area of the barrel contacted by the slide handle. All consistent with much cycling of the action (This makes sense in that it was used for the intended purpose of its' manufacture!). Stock is very good as partially refinished, with a worn forearm, scattered small pressure indentations. Mechanically excellent.
