Description:

With a single steel bead at the end of the solid concave rib. The lock plates are marked "LEFAUCHEUX A PARIS" with detailed game bird engravings on both sides. The frame has almost 100% coverage in a detailed grape vine floral engraving. Rich engraving is also found on the tangs, trigger guard, break lever, the metal components of the forearm, as well as both hammers. The right hammer has a checker board design with a borderless checkered cocking spur. The left hammer has a head that looks like a fish, a bordered finely knurled cocking spur, and a game scene on the body. The water table is marked "133" over "1851". The forearm under break lever is marked with the boxed letters "LF" over the serial number. The barrels are dated 1851 and have "ALBERT BERNARD/ CANNONIER A PARIS" markings. The most unique feature is the bent or cripple stock, allowing a left eyed shooter to effectively use a right hand gun. The butt features a steel buttplate with engraving at the heel.

Rating Definition:

Very good as period refurbished. The barrels have refinished brown finish with areas of thinning and a strong damascus pattern showing through. The locks and hammers have been repaired (possibly in period) as the hammers are of two different styles of engraving and the hardware differs. The frame has a mostly gray patina with clear engravings. Yellowing and discoloration has occurred just rear of the fences with deformation where the hammers fall. The stock has attractive grain, slight varnish loss at the heel, and scattered small dings and dents. Mechanically good.
