Description:

This trap gun has no visible markings and has spike for staking it into the ground and a sliding safety mechanism to prevent accident discharge while setting the trap.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The trap has an overall brown patina with some bright oxidations. While well aged, the mechanisms still appear functional.

Description:

This trap gun has a cast iron construction and is marked "HARTFORD. CONN/F.REUTHE'S / PATENT / MAY 12" 1857" on the bottom of the barrels. It is designed with two protruding prongs that were baited. When the animal tried to take the bait, the hooks sprung and the spring ignited the charge in the two barrels quickly killing the animal.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The gun has a dark brown patina with well aged and pitted surfaces. One of the prongs is absent.
