Blade front sight and three leaf (two folding, one fixed) rear sight on a matted rib with the barrels marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND 98 NEW BOND STREET LONDON" and "WINNER OF ALL THE FIELD RIFLE TRIALS 1883". The matching serial number is marked on the lower tang, water table, barrel flat and forearm hardware. The barrel flats are marked with various British proofs. The water table is marked with two "crown/V" proofmarks. A fine English scroll engraving is featured on the receiver, hammers, lock plates, forearm hardware, barrel release and trigger guard. Blue barrels, casehardened remaining parts and mounted with a checkered walnut pistol grip stock with a horn grip cap, cheekpiece, solid recoil pad and silver initial oval. It is 50 caliber and appears to be a 500 Black Powder Express. Length of pull: 14 7/8 inches, drop at comb: 1 3/4 inches, drop at heel: 2 3/4 inches, cast-off: 1/8 inches.

Very good plus. The barrels retain 20% of original blue finish in the protected areas with the balance a smooth brown patina. The remaining metal surfaces retain traces of original case colors in the protected areas, otherwise a smooth gray patina. The wood is very good with some minor pressure dents and scratches and worn checkering. Mechanically excellent.
