It features a fixed front sight and a two leaf folding rear sight. The barrel is secured by three "U" marked barrel bands. The barrel is marked "1864" at the breech on the top flat and with "V/P/Eagle Head" proofs and inspection marks on the left barrel flat. The lock marked with the "Eagle" motif and "U.S./TRENTON" to the right of the hammer and dated "18[last two digits faded]" to the rear. It is fitted with a smooth oiled walnut stock with "A.M. BURTON" stamped on the left flat along with two cartouches and a steel buttplate marked "US" on the top. It includes a trumpet head ramrod.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The rifle has a mottled light brown patina with some light scratches. The stock is fine with legible cartouche, small chips along some of the edges and some minor abrasions and dings throughout. Mechanically excellent with most of the markings clear.
