The lock is marked "C. SHARPS' PAT./OCT. 5TH 1852" and "R.S. LAWRENCE' PAT/APRIL 12TH 1859". The right side of the receiver is marked "C. SHARPS PAT/SEPT. 12TH 1848". "H.G.S" is marked on the saddle ring bar mount. It has a pinned German silver blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight with Lawrence patent marked base and the ladder graduated to 800 yards. It is mounted with a smooth walnut stock and forearm with a single barrel band, two "F.M.R." cartouches on the left side under the saddle ring bar and carbine style iron buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The barrel retains traces of the blue finish with primarily a mottled brown patina along with some patches of oxidation, a bright section just ahead of the forearm, a pressure mark near the breech on the left and a white mark on the underside of the barrel. The receiver has a mixture of faded case colors, gray and brown patina. The hammer and lever have an even brown patina and the buttplate has brown patina and oxidation. The wood is also very good with clear cartouches, pressure dents, minor scratches and a few large strike type marks. The action is excellent and the markings are clear.
