Description:

The Spencer repeating firearms were personally endorsed by President Lincoln after a trial firing demonstration. Spencer rifles and carbines were among the most popular arms of the American Civil War and were used into the Indian War period. The barrel was originally blued and the receiver, hammer, loading lever and buttplate casehardened. It is equipped with German silver blade front and folding adjustable rear sights. The top of the receiver has the standard three-line address and patent date. The stock and forearm are oil-finished walnut with a single barrel band, sling bar and ring on the left side, sling swivel on the bottom of butt and steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fair. This rifle has a fairly even rust brown patina over most of the surfaces with some chemical residue streaks on receiver. The lower tang has some blue finish. The lightly sanded wood is good with a few light scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent with clear markings.
