This is a very fine example of 1 of the approximately 7,366 Model 1883 shotguns manufactured by Colt between 1883 and 1895. This example was manufactured in 1893 with a single brass bead on the concave, solid matte rib with single line Colt address. 2 3/4 inch chambers, choked improved modified/full with extractors. It has brown Damascus barrels and casehardened frame. "PATENTED/AUG. 22., SEP. 19. 1882" is marked on bottom of action. Light, scallop border engraving on the action, trigger guard, and lower tang. It is mounted with a multi-point checkered walnut forearm with ebony forend insert and pistol grip stock with a checkered horn Rampant Colt buttplate and silver initial oval. 14 1/4 inch length of pull.

Very fine. The barrels retain 95% original brown finish and show 90% of the Damascus pattern. The trigger guard and triggers retain 95% plus original blue finish with some edge and contact wear. The frame retains 70% original bright case colors with a smooth mottled gray patina on the balance. The wood is also very fine with a few minor dings and dents, sharp flat edges and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
