Description:

Measuring 37 1/2 inches in overall length, with a 32 1/4 inch curved single fuller blade, bearing etched patriotic designs on both sides and the merchant mark of the Army & Navy Stores Company of New York City on the left ricasso. Nickel finished brass hilt, with a 3-branch guard, dark wood grip and gold and black ribbon sword knot. Nickel finished scabbard, with a sculpted American eagle on the suspension band, pierced-through fittings, scroll and patriotic engraving on the obverse and the reverse engraved "PRESENTED TO/CAPTAIN CHARLES N. MORGAN/FROM Co.D./106th MACHINE GUN BATTALION". As commander of Company D, Morgan would participate in the Battle of the St Quentin Canal, where a multi-national combined arms force would successfully open the first complete breech of the Hindenburg Line in 1918.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with some mild wear and spotting on the metal and light handling marks overall. The etching is all well detailed and the engraving is sharp
