This is an example of a low production Winchester Model 55 rifle that was manufactured in 1928. This model that was intended to be a simplified version of the Model 1894 and was produced between 1924 and 1932. Additional parts on hand allowed assembly of additional Model 55s until 1935 with a total of just a little over 20,000 made. This particular rifle has a half length magazine and takedown feature. The barrel has a dovetail front sight and adjustable sporting rear sight. It is marked with split barrel markings: the right side has the standard two-line Winchester markings, and the left side is marked "MODEL 55 - WINCHESTER - NICKEL STEEL -30 WCF-". The upper tang has the three-line trade mark markings and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame. It has a plain straight grip walnut stock and forearm, serrated steel butt plate, and steel forend cap.

Fine. The barrel and magazine tube retain 85% plus of the original blue finish with some minor marks and a couple of small patches of light oxidation. The frame and lever retain 20% of the original blue finish with the balance a mixture of gray flaked off bluing and brown patina on the balance. The buttplate also displays a brown patina. The wood is also very fine with glossy varnish, some vice marks on the forearm, and a few scrapes and minor scratches. Mechanically excellent with clear markings.
