Description:

This example of a black powder Colt Single Action Army revolver was manufactured in later part of 1895. They generally accepted serial number range of 165,000 is when Colts switched to the smokeless powder frames, so this pistol is actually fairly later in the black powder series. It is also among the final revolvers made with the cylinder pin retention screw. The top of the barrel has the two-line Colt address marking, and the left side of the barrel has the caliber designation. The left side of the frame has the new style Colt two-line patent date markings followed by the circled Rampant Colt. It is fitted with hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt emblem on each side that are numbered to another gun. The matching serial number is marked on the frame, trigger guard and butt and the assembly number "10" is marked on the loading gate.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The revolver primarily displays a mottled brown patina with some traces of the original finish in the protected areas and light pitting. The grips are good with a small chip out of the left panel, mostly crisp checkering and some minor scratches. Mechanically excellent with clear markings.
