Description:

Measuring 35 1/2 inches overall with a 30 1/4 inch single fuller blade with the Weyersberg logo on the left ricasso, a faint "Nazi eagle" proof stamp on the right, and a set of 12 1/2 inch long niter blue enhanced etched panels on each side showing scroll decoration on both, crossed cannons on the left, and "Wachtmeister Osthues,/Stab III/A.R.6" in gold accented lettering on the right. Gilt brass hilt with a Nazi eagle on the guard/languet, raised oak leaf and acorn designs, and a wire wrapped black celluloid grip. With a black enamel finished sheath. Included with the sword is a large quantity of (partially translated) correspondence between a former owner of this sword and several people connected with Wachtmeister Willi Osthues including Osthues' son and a former officer in one of his later units. The son included 2 wartime photographs of the Wachtmeister including one with him wearing a sword believed to be this one.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with some mild spotting on the blade, a small amount of high point wear on the hilt, some flaking and dents on the painted sheath (70% remaining) and mild handling marks overall.
