Description:

Measuring 34 3/8 inches overall, with a 29 1/4 inch single fuller blade, bearing the Eickhorn squirrel on the left ricasso, vine etching on the spine, and a 12 3/4 inch panel of scroll and martial-themed etching on each side. On the right side of the blade is the text "SA-Reiter Standarte 25/24.5.36", indicating one of the Cavalry units of the Sturmabteilung Gruppe Berlin-Brandenberg. By 1936, the SA was already a fading organization, having lost it's prominence as the Nazi Party's chief paramilitary force to the SS and a wide swath of it's founders and brain trust in the 1934 Night of Long Knives. The Gruppe with Berlin-Brandenberg lost 50% of it's membership within a year of the event. In spite of this reduction, Gruppe Berlin-Brandenberg still had the manpower to participate in the Night of Broken Glass, the 1938 mass destruction of Jewish homes, businesses and places of worship. Gruppe Berlin-Brandenberg, along with the rest of the SA, was formally disbanded as a criminal organization following the German surrender in 1945. Gilt brass hilt with the Nazi eagle on the right languet, a blank inscription shield on the left, "GES. GESCH." on top of the cross guard, raised oak leaf and acorn designs overall, a brass wire wrapped black celluloid grip and a pink-eyed lion head pommel. With a black leather portapee, silver acorn, and a steel single ring scabbard.

Rating Definition:

Extremely fine. Some light flaking and spotting is visible on the blade with a well aged brass patina on the elevated areas of the hilt and bright, finely contrasting gold in the protected areas. The portapee shows some wear and cracking, and there are some scuffs and wear on the scabbard.
