Description:

Predating the rise of the Nazi party, the knife of the State Forest Service (Staatsforstdienst) served as a badge of honor and rank, with white colored grips reserved for senior officials and Foresters. Measuring 20 1/2 inches overall with an 15 3/4 inch blade bearing the WKC logo on the right ricasso, the etched distributor mark "G. ECKENHOFF NACF. BERLIN" on the spine behind vinework, and an etched woodland scene on each side. Gilt brass hilt with a ribbed languet, deer hoof tipped quillion and guard, smooth original ivory grips and a set of three gilt brass acorns on each panel. With a gilt brass fitted, black leather covered sheath.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with some light polishing and spotting on the blade, over 80% of the original gilt finish on the hilt (60% on sheath), well aged visible brass, a few thin cracks in the grips, and mild scuffing and dents on the sheath. One of the acorns on the right panel is different from the remainder, possibly a replacement for one knocked out and lost in the field.
