Description:

This is an example of an early WWII Inland Division/General Motors M1 carbine that has been arsenal refurbished for the Korean War that has been fitted with a late manufacture M3 Infrared scope. These scopes were originally manufactured in mid to late 1944, employed in very limited numbers during WWII with much greater use in Korea. This M1 Carbine has the standard receiver markings with the barrel marked "INLAND MFG. DIV/GENERAL MOTORS/6-43". The carbine has a mix of early and late, parts to include an original flat M1 style bolt, a late SA marked type III barrel band with bayonet lug, a flip safety, low wood, late production stock with the four rivet hand guard. The stock has a crossed canon cartouche on the right side of the butt. The M1 Carbine rear sight has been removed and it is fitted with the standard M3 scope mounting bar on top of the carbine that has been fitted with a Korea war era production M3 infrared sniper scope. The scope itself is marked on the nomenclature plate "CORPS OF ENGINEERS U.S. ARMY/TELESCOPE/SNIPERSCOPE INFRARED/20,000 VOLTS/AMERICAN OPTICAL Co./ Buffalo N.Y." It is dated "6-23-51" with serial number "M3. 8127 ,51". The scope is complete with the complete collector on top of the scope, a original power pack, battery, forward mounted pistol grip/trigger assembly, the various cables and one of the original rubberized pack/carrying case and two spare rectifier tubes, plus some smaller light bulbs. This scarce M1 Carbine/M3 Infrared scope rig is complete with its original green M3 storage case/chest with the large "U.S." M3 scope markings stenciled on the lid.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as arsenal refurbished with 90% of the finish overall. The stock and hand guard have also been refurbished and show signs of light sanding overall. The scope and various components are all in very fine condition with 95% of the original black finish, however the scope is untested. The lens are also in fine condition. A very nice looking, complete M3 Infrared scope and mount setup on a early WWII M1 Carbine. Magazine absent.
