This is an very nice original Colt Service Model Ace as produced circa 1943. The left side of the slide has standard Colt's two line patent dates and Colt Hartford address in two unbroken lines followed by the Colt Rampant Horse logo. The right side of the slide is stamped with standard "Colt (followed by) SERVICE/MODEL ACE (inside a diamond logo) .22 LONG /RIFLE". The slide is correctly not serial numbered to the receiver. The right side of the frame has the U.S. Ordnance Corps Cross-Cannon stamped behind the plastic stock with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY/S M 4407" stamped in two lines behind the slide stop hole. The left side of the frame has the U.S. Ordnance "GHD" inspector with the Colt factory sub inspector stamps on the front trigger guard bow. This Ace has the late production features that include: the adjustable target rear sight and the high, thick blade front sight. Checkered brown plastic stocks, stamped trigger, serrated main spring housing, and narrow hammer and the magazine is blued and the bottom of the floor plate is marked "COLT/22 ACE L.R./SERVICE MODEL.".

Excellent with 97% plus of the parko-lubrite parkerized finish overall with edge and high spot wear with some thinning on the front edges of the slide and front grip strap. The grips are also in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides, with minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
