Description:

Used in Unlimited Class benchrest shooting, railguns are custom built, forgoing the traditional stock in favor of an integral machine rest, and optimized for ultra-precise shooting, capable of putting 10 rounds in a 1/5" circle at 200 yards. Measuring 34 inch in total length, the 1 3/8 inch diameter stainless steel crowned free-floating barrel connects to a heavy black anodized frame with integral top mounted scope rail, left handed bolt with spring loaded takedown button and a extra light trigger, which is marked "No. 1DL/ WELLS & WELLS PRESCOTT, ARIZONA" on the left side. Secured to the frame is an aluminum sled, with a carrying handle on the left side, a set of rails along the bottom, and an extra large trigger guard. Completing the unit is the base, an extra-thick aluminum slab with a set of three spiked bolts, one in front and two at the rear corners for leveling the gun, a carrying handle in the center, "ships wheel" style elevation adjustment knob to the front, and an adjustment assembly in the rear that controls rear end height, horizontal adjustment, and the tilt of the arm. Fitted to the adjustment parts are three hard plastic nubs which slot into the rails on the underside of the sled, allowing the arm to recoil backwards without throwing of the position or adjustment of the base. Also included with the rifle is an extra barrel (36", 25 caliber, configured as the one on the gun), barrel wrench, Allen wrenches, spare parts and scope rings. According to the consignor, this rifle comes from legendary gunsmith Fred Wells who personally made the receiver and performed the final assembly of the components. Wells, a noted figure in the arms trade, produced only a handful of rifles each year and counted European royalty among his clients.

Rating Definition:
