Built around a L579 medium Sako receiver, with a heavyweight barrel mounted with a hooded ramp bead blade front sight and an express pattern rear sight with a fixed 100 yard leaf, folding 200 and 300 yard leaves, and gold wire highlights, and marked "F.C. BARNES/.458 x 2"/AMERICAN" near the breech. A derivative of the 458 Winchester, the 458x2-inch is a belted magnum round sufficient to kill any North American big game. Standard markings on the receiver, with a knurled and turned bolt hand-numbered to match. The stock is attractive fiddleback maple with a contrasting tip, fleur-de-lis accented checkering, steel grip cap and a solid Pachmayr recoil pad.

Excellent as custom built, with 98% of the factory-grade blue finish, showing a few minor handling marks overall, one or two patches of spotting and some mild dings on the front sight hood. The stock is excellent with a minimum of pressure dents, crisp checkering and attractive grain. Mechanically excellent.
