Description:

Hy Levens (Am: born 1922, IL) bronze sculptures depict the Wild West and have been exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, New York Sculptural Society and 9 different states and foreign countries. This bronze shows a Western Cowboy riding a bucking bronco. The rider is dressed fully in Western attire including hat, vest, holster with gun and chaps trying to tame this wild horse. The cowboy has one leg up and the snorting horse has his two back legs up trying to throw off the rider. This is a well-chased working cowboy bronze with detailed chased saddle, hat, spurs, saddle and horse. The bronze is signed on the bottom: "Hy Levens Copyright 1972, Ex(caliber) NY 15/15". The bronze rests upon a custom oval beveled green marble base. Dimensions: H: 20 inches, W: 17 inches, D: 9 inches, approximate weight: 40lbs. Artist is also listed in collected bronze works of Berman V. 4, Pg 1179. $1000-$1500.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with a fine aged bronze patina. Base is excellent.
