Highly desirable prewar Colt Model 1911A1 Super 38 Automatic pistol that was manufactured in 1934. This wonderful pistol is complete with an original (unnumbered) maroon shipping box that is correctly marked on the label, Colt Automatic Pistol Super 38, that includes the instruction manual, shooting suggestion tip sheet and Colt Super 38 sales brochure. The left side of the slide is marked with the standard two line address/patent dates and the right side is marked "COLT SUPER.38/AUTOMATIC" followed by the Rampant Colt. The upper left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with a letter "X" over the Colt "VP" proof with the number "60" on the opposite side. It is fitted with the correct barrel that has the polished chamber area, that is marked on the lower left side, "COLT 38 AUTO". It has the early high polish blue finish with a excellent super smooth action. The slide has the standard prewar fixed sight with the thick, half-moon style front sight with the square notch rear sight. It has the short trigger with the checkered face, with the checkered slide lock lever, thumb safety and the wide spur hammer, with the full checkering. It is complete with one half-tone Colt magazine that is marked "COLT/SUPER .38 AUTO" on the bottom.

Very fine as professionally restored with 99% of the prewar Colt style blue finish overall with just a hint of blue loss on the very front edge of the slides. The grips are near mint with nice distinct, sharp checkering on both sides, with just a couple of handling marks on the lower left side. The shipping box is also in very fine plus condition with a nice original color overall with some minor scuffing on the lower front edges with only one corner of the lid starting to separate. The end label is complete and intact. A really attractive prewar Colt Super 38 automatic pistol.
