This is an absolutely beautiful, near mint, professionally restored Colt Model 1902 "Military" model pistol manufactured in very late 1919. This model was one of the first truly successful Colt semi-automatic pistols produced and is easily distinguished from the sporting model as it has the square butt, slide lock on the left side of the slide and a lanyard swivel on the lower left side of the frame. This beautiful pistol is accompanied by an original, albeit unnumbered, exactly correct, original maroon box. The slide is marked in a two-line, two-block markings "PATENTED/APR.20,1897.SEPT.9,1902" followed by "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO./HARTFORD, CT.U.S.A.", and the right side is marked "AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS". The markings are all in the later style, block letters. The Rampant Colt trademark is stamped behind the slide serrations on the left side of the slide. This model has the grip serrations on the rear of the slide and a spur hammer. The pistol has the Colt high polish commercial blue finish with a polished chamber and muzzle area on the barrel and casehardened hammer. The serial number is stamped on the left side of the frame above the trigger guard. The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with a "1" assembler's mark above the Colt "VP/triangle" proofmark. The right side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with a "K" inspection number. The magazine floor plate is marked "CAL 38/COLT". As noted it is accompanied by a maroon box that includes a copy of an original instruction manual, the Colt special instruction sheet small hanging tag and original Colt bore brush. The end label of the box is marked "MILITARY MODEL/Colt Automatic Pistol .38".

Near mint with 99% of the professionally restored blue finish and no wear or finish loss on the pistol. The hammer retains 90% of its case colors overall with some slight wear on the front edges/sides and upper face of the hammer. The grips are in excellent condition. Mechanically excellent. The box is in very good condition with the end labels intact, showing some minor staining from old tape (no longer present), and fraying along the edges. The box itself shows scuffing and wear on the corners and edges with a couple of the corners of the lid separated.
