This is a fabulous example of a first year production Colt Super .38 manufactured in 1929. These early pre-war Colt Super .38 automatics are very difficult to obtain especially in this exceptional high end condition. They exhibit all the early exceptional fine workmanship from the Colt factory including a beautiful Colt high polish commercial blue finish with the factory fitted fully checkered walnut grips. The left side of the slide is marked with the Colt two-line elongated Hartford address and 1897-1913 patent dates. The right side is marked "COLT/SUPER .38/AUTOMATIC" followed by the Rampant Colt trademark. There is a half-moon front sight and a square notch dovetail rear sight. It is fitted with the correct unmarked, Colt .38 Super barrel with a blue finish and factory polished feed ramp and chamber area. The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped "5/VP" with the opposite side stamped with the number "71" and the serial number (1626) stamped on the frame above the trigger. The magazine has a two tone finish, is marked "COLT 38 SUPER AUTO" on the bottom and has the correct reinforcing rib in the center of the magazine. It has the correct original parts such as the arched and checkered mainspring housing checkered slide stop release. Includes a latching carry case with 14 round ammo block, cleaning rod, key, extra two-tone magazine, hang tag and papers.

Very fine as expertly restored. With 99% of the current blue finish and only minimal handling marks. The markings have all been re-engraved. Grips are very fine with crisp, well defined checkering and minimal handling marks. Case is excellent. Mechanically excellent.
