Description:

Installed in a 51 inch wide and 41 inch tall frame, hardwood construction with a gold painted plaster veneer decorated with scroll and floral patterns around the exterior and a repeating motif of a stalking big cat on the interior, the visible section of the canvas measures 39 1/2 inches wide and 29 1/2 inches tall, with no visible signature. The scene is of a gray day in a wetland, with a set of 11 ducks on the water, 8 geese circling overhead, and in the center a patch of tall grass concealing a shotgun-equipped hunter. The canvas has been stretched over a wooden frame, with no additional markings on the rear of the canvas or wood; the consignor has stated that this was at the request of the original commissioner. Robb White (1945- ) is a master at realism. At age 8 he began taking art classes from an professor at a local college in Mississippi, continuing his fine art education with a degree in Fine Art at the University of Mississippi, Oxford and beyond. Today, at 69, Robb takes commissions, each painting in the range of $12,000 to $15,000 range. From the time he was a child, he was given masterpieces to copy, brush stroke by brushstroke and in later years developed his own style re-creating virtually photo-realistic to impressionist works. Interestingly enough Robb is an avid antique arms enthusiast, for years owning Salter and White associates known for their inventory of near mint to mint Civil War weapons offerings and later Robb founded, owned and published the world renowned Robb Report magazine.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with some light handling marks on the wood, and no visible cracking or chipping of the paint.
