Description:

Established in 1932, the RLB was responsible for German air defense. While the membership was technically massive, most of it's members were part-time volunteers, with only a small cadre of full-time officers qualifying to wear the officers dagger, and authorization for the enlisted dagger being a reward for special action and service. 1) Paul Weyersberg RLB officers dagger, 14 1/2 inches long, 9 5/8 inch blade, 4 inch wide crossguard with a Nazi eagle languet, textured leather grip with swastika and sunburst badge, and a conical pommel. With a black leather covered sheath, fitted with aged nickel components, a black leather 2-strap hanger with oval buckles and a belt loop. 2) Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Company RLB enlisted dagger, 13 3/4 inches long, with an 8 5/8 inch blade, 3 1/4 inch crossguard, smooth hardwood grip with swastika badge, nickel fittings and a black enamel finished sheath with short belt hanger.

Rating Definition:

1) Very good, with some light spotting on the fine blade, a mixed patina on the aged nickel components, and mild cracks and scuffs on the leather. 2) Fair. The swastika languet is detached but included, with some old filler repair on the grip and mild dents and scuffing overall.
