This is a very nice example of a very early commercial Walther PP pistol. The generally accepted serial number range of regular production pistols started at 750,000. The serial number on this pistol "752971" would indicate that it was probably manufactured in late 1929 or early 1930. This early example also has the serial number vertically panagraphed on the right side of the slide in front of the slide serrations and it also has the black plastic magazine finger extension stamped with the matching serial number on the right side of the base. The left side of the slide has the standard markings of the Walther inside a banner followed by "Waffenfabrik Walther, Zella-Mehlis (Thur)/Walthers Patent Cal. 7,65m/m" and "Mod PP". The right side of the frame, slide and barrel muzzle are marked with single "crown/N" proof with the serial number "752971" vertically on the slide as noted. It has the rare early slightly larger hole ring hammer with the 90 degree safety. The magazine in the pistol has the early black finger extension base plate that is correctly marked with only the "Walther" inside a banner on the left side of the magazine body.

Very fine condition with 85% of the original blued finish overall with edge and high spot wear with thinning of the blue finish on the grip straps mixed with a brown patina. The grips are also very fine with nice checkering and markings on both sides with some handling marks on the lower right grip. This is a very fine example of an early, scarce commercial Walther PP pistol.
