Description:

Measuring 32 3/4 inches in overall length, with a 27 1/2 inch single fuller blade, marked "FRIEDR. KOTTENHOFF/GEVELSBERG" on the left ricasso, an etched vine on the spine, and panels of naval-themed etching on both sides. The hilt is gilt brass, with a double-folding guard, crowned and fouled anchor on the obverse guard and a throat-locking hole on the reverse, scroll decoration, a wire wrapped original ivory grip and a lion head pommel with dual colored eyes, green on the right and pink on the left. With a black leather scabbard fitted with engraved gilt brass components.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with some light wear and spotting on the blade. The finely colored grip shows some shrinking, age cracks and loose wire. About half the original gilt finish is present, concentrated in the lower areas with fine contrasting brass on the high points. The scabbard is good.
