The third year of Mauser Luger production during the build-up for the Second World War, 1936 is when the Wehrmacht decided to cast aside the date codes used in previous years and start using normal dates, Treaty of Versailles be damned. Blade front and notch rear sights, with "1936" on the chamber, "S/42" on the toggle link, "droop-wing eagle/63" proofs on the extension and barrel and "eagle" firing proofs on the barrel, extension and breechblock. Excluding the magazine ("fxo" marked, blue body/alloy base) the external parts bear matching numbers in the "military" style. Fitted with straw finished small parts, niter blue screws and pins, and checkered grips.

Very fine, with 75% of the original blue finish, showing a bright gray patina on and around the edges, a small number of tiny patches of pitting on and around the barrel and extension, a brown patina on the grip straps and mild handling marks. 60% straw color is present on the extractor and protected areas of the trigger, with the remainder having turned a smooth gray. Fiery niter blue is present on the toggle pins and sear spring and a mixed gray on the grip screws. Mechanically excellent.
