Description:

Measuring 40 inches in overall length, with a 34 inch straight double fuller blade showing a fine Damascus pattern overall. The lower 5 inches of the blade are etched and gold washed with an Imperial arms, "EISENHAUER/DAMAST-STAHL" (Iron Hewer/Damascus Steel) and "DEUTSCHER/OFFIZIER VEREIN/BERLIN" (German Officer Association) on the right side, vine work on the spine, and an array of arms above the WKC address on the left. The gilt hilt shows the cut-through Imperial Eagle (one-sided) on the pierced guard, a leather finger loop, wire wrapped sharkskin grip and a Phrygian helmet pommel. The cap of the pommel has a deep, reversed "FZ" monogram cut into it, possibly for use as a seal. With a nickel finished dual ring scabbard.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The blade shows scattered light spotting with over 80% of the original gold finish and sharp etching. Over half of the original gold is present on the hilt with smooth wear and a well aged patina on the exposed brass. Some dents are present on the lower portion of the scabbard with mild bubbling and flaking of the 95% nickel finish.
